His real name is Chukwuka Ekweani, and he was born on the 16th of July 1995 to Mr and Mrs Ekweani in Kaduna state, the northern part of Nigeria.

There are no details of CKay’s sibling but his parents are Igbos, he is a Nigerian by birth and he celebrated his 26th birthday in July 2021.

Career

CKay, like many Nigerian singers, began in the choir; he was drawn to music at the age of six through his father, who was a choir director in his local church. At the age of 13, CKay was already writing and composing songs for a Christian music group.

In a bid to make a career out of music, CKay relocated to Lagos State in 2014, and during those periods, he was signed as a production intern with Loopy Music, a record label which later merged with Chocolate City and gave CKay the opportunity to work with some popular names like Dice Ailes, Ice Prince, MI Abaga, and Kenya’s Victoria Kimani.

CKay would later release his first EP under Chocolate City titled ‘Who the fuck is CKay’ as at then he was an unknown figure in the music industry. He released another song CKay The First, under the same label in 2019.

But on the 11th of February 2021, CKay released his third extended play, Boyfriend, through Warner Music South Africa and on the 4th of May 2021, the talented singer revealed he was no longer signed to Chocolate City but Warner Music South Africa.
